CONCRETE/POST BRACKETS - LOAD CAPACITIES
GENERAL NOTES
- Load capacity values are reported in pounds.
- All values reported are determined using Hem-Fir wood. Adjustments must be made for use with other wood species.
- Brackets are not recommended for use with non-supported top members (i.e., cantilever posts),
- All specified fasteners must be used to obtain full load capacity values.
- All load capacities shown are based on dry moisture content conditions. For moisture contents that are not dry at fabrication or in-service, the user must use the National Design Specification (NDS) to appropriately adjust the load capacities.
- Uplift capacities are increased for seismic and wind loads by 33% and 60%. When other load conditions exist, no increase is allowed.
- All nails are stainless steel common nails, unless otherwise specified.
- All bolts are stainless steel and are specified by diameter.
- Load capacities for multiple directions cannot be added together. A design load that can be divided into components In the direction of the given load capacity must be evaluated as follows:
- o Design Uplift/Allowable Uplift + Design Lateral/Allowable Lateral < 1.0
- Load capacities were determined using the 1991 National Design Specification in accordance with the 1997 Uniform Building Code (UBC).
